SONYA W. GUY, LPC, CEAP, NCC

Sonya W. Guy completed her Master of Arts in Counselor Education at the University of Alabama. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Alabama, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP).

With more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field, Sonya began her career working in substance abuse treatment.  Formerly with DCH Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Sonya provided counseling and other services such as trainings/workshops and management consultations.

Sonya is skilled in working with individuals, couples, and families. She is a welcoming and approachable therapist who believes individuals already possess the capacity to improve their lives. Her role as a therapist is to support and encourage clients while instilling hope and building confidence. Sonya accepts clients where they are, validates their emotions, and provides honest and direct feedback. Her areas of interest include assisting clients with marital/relationship concerns, anger and stress management, addictive behaviors, communication skills, anxiety, and critical incident debriefing.
